Portable Computer Systems is currently a provider of the Panasonic notebook and Panasonic Toughbook computers, Rugged Tablet PCs, Ruggedized Laptops, and associated peripherals and services to the State of Texas, acting by and through the Department of Information Resources (DIR).
The TX DIR business operations division assists state agencies and political subdivisions in the most cost-effective acquisition of their information resources by negotiating, managing and administering contracts with the CISV information technology providers. Eligible customers are all governmental entities in Texas, including state agencies and universities, and all political subdivisions, such as cities, counties and public schools. By pooling the State's purchasing power, the Cooperative contract program has created substantial pricing discounts, which Texas public entities may be unable to achieve individually.
Under the current contract, available through www.dir.state.tx.us, PCS offers competitive pricing on Panasonic Toughbook laptops, Rugged Tablet PCs, Intermec Rugged Handhelds, Ruggedized Notebooks, and all related peripheral products. This also includes related peripheral products manufactured by Precision, Gamber Johnson, and Ledco. The contract also includes Services. The services associated with this contract include installation, maintenance and training for Panasonic laptop computers and all related peripheral products. The PCS Southern Regional Office located in Houston, TX is the main contact for the TX DIR contract.
